Human resource management (HRM) and human resource development (HRD) are of core importance in the development of top financial institutions (FIs). Competent and engaged personnel can create a competitive edge in a sector where products are often exchangeable. This is often overlooked in operational management and business planning.
We help our partners to improve their staff management systems by offering tailored strategies and operational systems in HR management and development.
Within the context of the institution’s overall strategy and the unique internal and external environment, IAS develops tailored HR strategies to achieve corporate goals.
Successful HR begins with hiring the right people. A well-structured recruitment and selection process ensures that institutions attract the right talent. We support clients to develop and implement these processes.
The appraisal, monitoring, improving and rewarding of staff performance is an important element to increase corporate performance. We facilitate the design and implementation of performance management and appraisal systems.
Identifying new staff for key leadership roles is not always straightforward. The existing pool of internal or outside candidates may lack important competencies. Succession planning increases the availability of experienced and capable employees who are prepared to assume these roles. Our team supports partner institutions to develop and implement tailor-made systems.
We offer a full suite of training services, including: competency gap analysis and training needs assessment; development of training systems; and the design and delivery of training courses for all professional levels.
The provision of training courses across a large range of topics is another crucial part of our services. Classroom and digital workshops, as well as on-the-job training and coaching sessions are the most important training methods we use.
We also offer the following microfinance topics within our Development Finance Academies:
The Frankfurt School Development Finance e-Campus has become a very successful e-learning tool for professionals interested in human recourse development, leadership and management.
Business coaching programmes are among the core competencies of Frankfurt School’s organizational consultancy services. We have a team of highly educated and experienced and international coaches. Currently, we are working with almost 20 coaches who are based on all continents, in six different time zones, speaking in total 12 languages.
Our coaching approach usually starts with a 360-degree assessment. We then clarify expectations about the coaching program and set milestones for the remaining coaching sessions. Our approach strongly supports the Coachee in taking ownership in his/her development. The FS coaches employ an excellent understanding of emotional intelligence to assist the Coachee. As part of the sessions, the coach will introduce key leadership concepts and may provide examples, but the fundamental aim is to facilitate the Coachee’s access to information, selection of actions and provide support in achieving sustainable positive outcomes based on the Coachee’s needs.
Our team of experts in the Frankfurt head office, together with a strong pool of international advisers, implements projects worldwide. We have been working with the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) since 2011, where we designed, developed and implemented fully-fledged HR systems. In 2018 we kicked-off a new project with CBE to upgrade the bank's organizational structure in line with their ambitious vision to become a World-Class Commercial Bank by 2025.
Other examples of past projects include the review and revision of the performance appraisal system and job descriptions and grades for Kredi Garanti Fonu A.Ş, Turkey; the development of an HRM system for the Postal and Savings Bank of China; as well as optimizing the job analysis and recruitment process at HAAN Bank, Mongolia (now Khan Bank).
In parallel, our highly qualified team of trainers has facilitated more than 1.200 tailor-made training courses in the past 5 years for various private and public financial institutions worldwide. Our trainers cover all topics related to banking and microfinance, management and leadership.
We have also developed a microfinance certification course for the Lao Microfinance Association, which consisted of a 29-day technical program that was complemented by an extensive training-of-trainers program for local trainers in Laos.
