The European Programme for Employment and Social Innovation (henceforth "EaSI") aims to foster employment and social inclusion in Europe by boosting access to, and the availability of, microfinance for micro-enterprises and vulnerable people who wish to start-up or develop their own micro-enterprise.
To reach this goal and expand financial access in Europe, the Programme envisions capacity building for public and private financial service providers (FSPs) within the microfinance sector to improve their operations and widen their outreach.
Within EaSI Technical Assistance, Frankfurt School and its consortium partners have provided tailored trainings to over 1,300 staff from more than 80 FSPs, as well as strengthened their institutional capacity and helped prepare organisations for compliance with the European Code of Good Conduct for Microcredit Provision. In 2019, the EaSI Programme also started offering investment readiness trainings to prepare FSPs to access funding from the European Investment Fund and other investors.
To further strengthen the European microfinance sector and facilitate the exchange and dissemination of good practices, the EaSI Technical Assistance team has organised more than 130 events: workshops and seminars, peer-to-peer trainings, study visits and web sessions.
These events have served more than more than 3,700 representatives of financial service providers, regulators, NGOs and other stakeholders from the European microfinance sector.
