The Project provided consultancy services to NRSP Microfinance Bank in order to increase its outreach by strengthening the Bank´s micro, small and medium-sized (MSME) Business Unit, improving the geographical structure and operations of NRSP’s branch network, introducing branchless banking (BB), enhancing the Islamic Microfinance Department and organising study tours to explore best practice outside of Pakistan.
Frankfurt School’s (FS) experts provided assistance through advisory and training to nearly 200 NRSP MSME staff, enabling them to learn about credit financial analysis and monitoring, as well as credit lifecycles for larger loan amounts. Our FS experts also trained 16 in-house trainers and provided targeted advisory to enhance Islamic microfinance.
The FS expert team reviewed the operational structure of NRSP branches and successfully tested the new model in two pilot branches. To manage the network of 115 branches, FS experts proposed a new operational structure for an up-scaled network of eight regional offices. We also advised NRSP on the best operational model for its B2B operations, taking into account NRSP’s capacity and competitive advantage relative to competitors.
Finally, we organised three study tours to its partners, where delegations from NRSP Microfinance Bank could explore best practices such as “Upscaling MSME lending” in Cambodia , “Scaling up Islamic microfinance“ in Malaysia and “Climate Adaptation and Climate Smart Agriculture” in Tajikistan.
