Frankfurt School of Finance & Management is one of Europe’s leading business schools, accredited by AACSB, AMBA and EQUIS. 

To strengthen our team, the Department of Finance at Frankfurt School invites applications for a Senior Lecturer in Financial Mathematics (70% position). 

We seek to appoint an outstanding candidate in the area of Financial Mathematics, or in a closely related area (e.g., Statistics), who has a strong interdisciplinary link with finance. We are particularly interested in applicants with considerable experience in both teaching at university level and in applying their expertise outside the university context e.g., in the financial services industry. The position will be available from this autumn (August or September 2024) onwards.

Your Profile
  • Doctoral degree in Finance, Mathematics or Statistics, or an equivalent degree;
  • Experience in  teaching mathematics at university level;
  • Demonstrable qualities related to academic education. The ability to immediately take on a wide range of educational tasks (e.g., course leadership, programme management) is an advantage;
  • Strong organisational skills and a cooperative attitude; initiative, good judgment, and the ability to work well in a team;
  • A strong interest in pursuing excellence in teaching and supervising graduate students, as well as the ability and flexibility to teach across a range of topics in financial mathematics and mathematics in general at undergraduate and postgraduate level;
  • Strong leadership competencies in a university context;
  • Ability to teach both in English and in German;
  • Research in the areas of Finance, Financial Mathematics or Statistics is considered an advantage.
Your responsibilities
  • The preparation and delivery of lectures and seminars;
  • The conduct of support classes, workshops;
  • Development of course and subject-specific material;
  • Serving as course coordinator;
  • Mentoring and supervision of students engaged in course work and  research projects;
  • Marking and assessment of examinations;
  • Consultation with students;
  • A range of administrative functions connected with the course/subject;
  • Involvement in various professional activities (e.g., professional associations, conferences and workshops);
  • Exhibiting sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, social, economic, cultural, international, and ethnic backgrounds of the FS students.
Desirable
  • Experience in innovative teaching formats;
  • Strong international background;
  • Conducting research and other scholarly activities.
