Project Overview

The Power Africa Off-grid Project PAOP selected Frankfurt School to provide short term targeted support to two companies in the off-grid sector, helping them start and/or improving its client or clean energy financing. The support will help companies become more attractive for investors, showing better portfolio quality and repayment ratios.

In this Project, Frankfurt School (FS) experts supported the Bank by conducting a feasibility assessment and data environment review. Afterwards, FS aided the Bank in the development, integration and implementation of statistical credit scoring model.

The project also included the development of a learning paper which draws conclusions and recommendations about the asset finance sector in terms of credit risk.

Project Impact

PAOP financed the Technical Assistance project to build credit risk capacities at three different Asset lending institutions, all of them at a different stage of operations and growth. Activities were tailored to the needs of the companies and were focused on the following topics: development of scoring solutions, integration of affordability assessments, governance workshops, credit risk management trainings, review/test of the performance of existing scoring tools, IFRS9 provisioning and design of dashboards and monitoring tools.
