Frankfurt School of Finance & Management and strategy consultancy Plutoneo are pooling their blockchain expertise in a joint venture. Focusing on organisations in the banking and finance industry, the newly founded company,, will develop solutions for using blockchain and distributed-ledger technologies (DLT).

Interest in digital assets, crypto assets (such as Bitcoin) and the digital euro is at an all-time high. Inevitably, this raises a host of regulatory issues, which the banking and finance industry must address as swiftly as possible. By setting up, Frankfurt School and Plutoneo are responding to the growing demand for blockchain and DLT-based solutions – a specialist area addressed by’s consulting services. will focus on the specific needs of banks and financial services providers, drawing on the research expertise of the Frankfurt School Blockchain Centre as well as the technical and process-related expertise of Plutoneo. The President of Frankfurt School, Professor Nils Stieglitz, explained the decision: “Our Blockchain Centre is known throughout Europe as a research-led think tank. Now we are channelling this expertise into a new spin-off so we can help businesses in the banking and finance industry use blockchain for their own innovative business models.” Professor Stieglitz made it clear that Frankfurt School intends to do more than deliver outstanding research and teaching; Frankfurt School also aims to play an active role in support of business and society, as evidenced by the Blockchain Centre and now by “I am constantly amazed and delighted by the entrepreneurial enthusiasm of my Blockchain Centre colleagues – it will enrich Frankfurt School’s ongoing development.”

Volker Braunberger will be heading the new company as CEO.
