Personal Details

Dr. Muniruddeen Lallmahamood is the Islamic Finance Portfolio Lead at UNDP Istanbul International Center for Private Sector in Development (IICPSD) and possesses a wealth of experience in the fields of Islamic finance, microfinance, strategic management and leadership, project management, and digital finance.

Prior to the current role, he held several key positions, including adjunct professor at Berlin School of Business & Innovation, UNDP IC (team leader, Afghanistan microfinance project), consultant for UNDP_IsDB_Djibouti Islamic microfinance project, chief executive officer of an Islamic bank, head/consultant in Islamic finance at the Central Bank of Mauritius, consultant and course developer for Frankfurt School of Finance and Management and regional representative at a Doha based Sharia advisory & consultancy firm. 

With a background in management consultancy and training from a former McKinsey & Company Director, Muniruddeen has a strong entrepreneurial acumen and a successful track record in the international business arena. His career has spanned various sectors and management levels in countries such as Mauritius, Kuwait, Malaysia, Qatar, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Djibouti. In the late 1980s, Muniruddeen also volunteered for charitable organizations and waqf-related projects in Kuwait.

On a part-time basis, he has also contributed to lecturing and the mentorship of graduates at various international academic institutions such as Paris-Dauphine University and the University of Strasbourg (2013–2018), Open University Mauritius (2019–2022), the University of Mauritius (2013–2015), University Technology Mauritius (2010–2015), and Honoris United Universities (2019–2022).

Muniruddeen's contributions to the academic and professional spheres have been significant. He authored and co-authored several peer-reviewed articles and actively participated in numerous international conferences. His academic background includes a doctorate in business administration from the University of South Australia and a master's degree in e-commerce from Central Queensland University. Additionally, he holds the Professional Certificate of Certified Sharia Advisor and Auditor from the Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI), and his language proficiency skills include English, French and Arabic.
