As of 1 January 2025, Professor Dr Frank Ecker is the new Vice President Research at Frankfurt School of Finance & Management. He succeeds Professor Dr Sascha Steffen, who has held the position since July 2021.
Frank Ecker, who was unanimously elected to his new role by the Faculty Council, has been Professor of Accounting at Frankfurt School since 2016 and heads the Accounting Department. Previously, he was Assistant Professor at the Fuqua School of Business, Duke University. Prior to his academic career, he worked for Deutsche Bank AG and DGZ Dekabank Luxembourg.
“I am confident that Frank Ecker’s engagement within the faculty and his professional background will further strengthen Frankfurt School's reputation as a leading business school with a strong research focus and that he will be an excellent addition to our Managing Board,” said Frankfurt School President Professor Dr Nils Stieglitz. “At the same time, I would like to thank Sascha Steffen very much for his commitment and successful work as Vice President Research over the past four years. During this period, the research culture at Frankfurt School has developed continuously. The most recent research ranking by the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD), in which Frankfurt School was ranked first in Germany and among the top 100 worldwide for the first time, is impressive proof of this.”
In future, Sascha Steffen will once again shift his focus to his research and the Centre for European Transformation, which he founded at Frankfurt School.
