Michael Ehrmann appointed Professor at Frankfurt School

• The economist will join from the ECB on 1 September 2025 as ‘Banque centrale du Luxembourg Professor of Central Banking’
• Michael Ehrmann held leading positions in central bank research departments, and with his background he will contribute to further developing the Frankfurt School Centre for Central Banking in research and teaching
• Frankfurt School offers a new Central Banking and Financial Regulation concentration in its Master of Finance

Frankfurt School of Finance & Management has appointed Dr Michael Ehrmann as ‘Banque centrale du Luxembourg Professor of Central Banking’. Starting 1 September 2025, the economist will join the Economics & Law Department. Michael Ehrmann, together with Professor Emanuel Mönch, Professor of Financial and Monetary Economics, and Professor Jens Weidmann, Professor of Practice in Central Banking, will further develop the Frankfurt School Centre for Central Banking and the business school’s degree programmes. Starting this fall, Frankfurt School offers a new Central Banking and Financial Regulation concentration in its flagship Master of Finance.

Michael Ehrmann

Following his PhD on Monetary Policy at the European University Institute in Florence in 2000, Michael Ehrmann has been working in various research and policy functions at the European Central Bank (ECB) and, from 2013-2016, at the Bank of Canada. Since 2016, he has been the Head of the Monetary Policy Research Division at the ECB. He is also a Research Fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy Research in London, and Vice President of the Central Bank Research Association in Basel. In addition to his leadership roles, he has published prolifically in a wide range of journals in economics and finance, including the Journal of Finance, the Journal of Monetary Economics, the European Economic Review, the Review of Economics and Statistics, the Review of Finance, and many others.
