Frankfurt School founded the Center for Performance Management & Controlling (CPMC) back in autumn 2020, and today the Centre is officially opening its doors to friends, partners and researchers. The CPMC is jointly headed by Professor Ronald Gleich, Professor of Management Practice & Control, and Professor Matthias Mahlendorf, Professor of Managerial Accounting. The two professors and their teams work closely with businesses to investigate the latest corporate management issues, develop new performance management concepts for experts working at CFO level, and organise related studies. CPMC researchers are also involved in teaching – on the Master in Corporate Performance & Restructuring programme, for example, as well as various Executive Education courses – and are currently developing special training programmes for financial specialists and executives.
One of the main areas of research is digital transformation as it affects CFOs and corporate finance departments. “We’re interested in new ways of using data, for example the analysis and interpretation of data from social networks for planning purposes,” explains Professor Mahlendorf. “We want to strengthen the financial controlling community, so we work in close collaboration with the International Association of Controllers (ICV),” adds Professor Gleich. To encourage the sharing of ideas between students, researchers, businesses and political players, the CPMC will be organising roundtables, symposia and conferences.
The Centre is supported by a variety of partners from the business world, among them Henkell-Freixenet, Versicherungskammer Bayern, Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt e.V., Valsight, Voith, Hays, HDI Vertriebs AG and nextmarkets, a FinTech. Further details can be found at
