The EU Taxonomy is a classification system that shows which economic activities are environmentally sustainable and can therefore be considered as "green". It forms the basis of the EU Sustainable Finance Regulatory Framework, especially the Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR) and Non-Financial Reporting Directive NFRD). Stricter disclosure requirements and the increasing demand for sustainable financial products require both companies from the real economy and financial market participants to understand and apply the EU Taxonomy.
This training appeals to a wide range of participants. During the workshop, the trainers will address the different areas in which the EU Taxonomy can be applied either by corporates or by financial market participants (e.g., strategy development, risk management, reporting, portfolio management, use of sustainable financing structures, etc.) and thus provide participants with a holistic understanding of how the EU Taxonomy works. The course incorporates case studies, which offer detailed steps of the practical application of the EU Taxonomy.
Our experienced trainers have an in-depth understanding of the EU Taxonomy and are partly active members of the European Commission's Sustainable Finance Platform. Therefore, each training reflects the latest state of the EU Taxonomy and brings into the classroom all the current discussions and developments (e.g., classification of gas and nuclear technology).

Prof. Dr. Ulf Moslener
Prof. Dr. Ulf Moslener researches, teaches and provides advice on sustainable finance as part of the faculty of Frankfurt School and as Head of Research, Frankfurt School and UNEP Collaborating Centre for Climate and Sustainable Energy Finance. His research focuses on the economics of climate change, financing sustainable energy systems, climate finance and sustainable finance. In his interdisciplinary work he covers international climate policy, carbon regulation, carbon emissions trading, and promotion of renewable energy. Prof. Moslener can look back at a long history of practical experience from working with KfW Development Bank, dealing with financing renewable energy and energy efficiency in developing countries, notably Asia.
Prof. Moslener provides his knowledge at Ministries, the European Commission and financial institutions. He represented Germany in the UN Standing Committee on Climate Finance and is Vice Chair of the Green and Sustainable Finance Cluster Germany (GSFCG). Sebastian Rink
Sebastian Rink is a green and sustainable finance expert and researcher at the Frankfurt School – UNEP Collaborating Centre. He is, among other topics, analysing the question how banks can facilitate the transformation of SMEs’ business models. Additionally, he is an associate in the Net Zero Banking Alliance Germany by the Green and Sustainable Finance Cluster Germany. His prior work includes co-developing the EU Taxonomy, policy advisory, advisory in the private financial sector, transaction management, and provision of training and education.
Karsten Löffler
Karsten Löffler is Co-Head of the Global Shield Solutions Platform, one of the financing vehicles under the Global Shield against Climate Risks, managed by the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management. From 2017 to 2022, he was Head of the Frankfurt School - UNEP Collaborating Centre for Climate & Sustainable Energy Finance. From 1989 to 2017, he worked for Allianz Group (Dresdner Bank, Allianz Global Investors), most recently as Managing Director of Allianz Climate Solutions. Karsten had been a member of the Executive Board of the Green and Sustainable Finance Cluster Germany from December 2017 until March 2023. From 2019 to 2021, he chaired the Sustainable Finance Advisory Board of the German Federal Government. He represented the Cluster in the Technical Expert Group on Sustainable Finance of the EU Commission and subsequently in the Platform on Sustainable Finance until 2021. Read more...
