FS Summer Academy - Global Finance in Transition

In a world of constant change, the financial sector faces a complex and interconnected set of challenges. From the rapid pace of technological advancements like artificial intelligence and digital innovation to cybersecurity breaches and from the intensifying climate and biodiversity crises impacting food security to ongoing global economic uncertainties, these challenges require forward-thinking, sustainable solutions. The need for leadership in inclusive and sustainable finance has never been more urgent as we seek to navigate these turbulent times and drive meaningful, just and equitable change for all.

Over the course of one intensive week, you'll engage with industry leaders, innovative thinkers, and a global network of peers to explore actionable strategies for tackling these challenges. From navigating market volatility to integrating sustainability into financial decision-making, this programme offers the tools and insights needed to drive impactful change.

What to Expect

Our lectures and debates will be led by Frankfurt School’s world-class faculty alongside distinguished guest speakers who are experts and leaders in their fields. 

While each participant chooses a specific track, the programme encourages cross-track interaction through various overarching sessions, such as the joint welcome and wrap-up sessions on the first and last day, as well as additional collaborative activities throughout the week. Participants will also have access to extensive materials and lecture notes as input for our highly interactive sessions.  

In addition, site visits to leading industry players in the Frankfurt area and social events hosted at the Frankfurt School Campus throughout the week will create numerous opportunities for networking and collaboration. 

Frankfurt School’s Green Finance and Inclusive Finance Diploma students will meet on campus to discuss key trends in their respective fields.  

The joint discussions and the various tracks are an excellent extension of our existing FS- e-Campus courses while also providing a stand-alone learning experience.

This program will cater to a wide range of finance professionals from commercial banks, microfinance institutions, central banks and regulatory/government institutions, development organisations, donor agencies, and institutional or impact investors.

Please note that the track descriptions are tentative and may be adjusted to further enhance the programme’s quality and relevance. The track will proceed only if a minimum of 10 participants is reached.

Digital & Inclusive Finance

This Track explores the transformative power of technological innovation in advancing financial inclusion. Digital finance has emerged as a critical tool for bridging gaps in access to financial services, offering unparalleled benefits to both providers and customers. 

Participants will delve into key topics such as digital transformation, financial ecosystems, strategies for combating cybercrime, and the growing relevance of artificial intelligence (AI) in shaping the future of finance. The track will also examine the broader implications of digital finance on global challenges like financial inclusion and climate change. 

This track offers valuable insights into the opportunities and challenges of digital finance, equipping participants with knowledge to navigate and innovate in this dynamic landscape.

Sustainable Agriculture Finance

The agricultural sector is vital to economic, social, and environmental sustainability, yet it remains underserved by financial institutions globally. The Sustainable Agriculture Finance Track explores how the food and agriculture sector can transition toward greater sustainability, the role financial institutions can play in this transformation, and the business models that support sustainable practices. 

Participants will examine practical examples from diverse regions, ranging from smallholder farmers in low-income countries to larger agricultural operations in both high- and low-income nations. 

This track provides valuable insights into sustainable agriculture finance, equipping participants with knowledge of key concepts, approaches, and financial solutions to promote sustainable food and agriculture systems worldwide.

SPECIAL TRACK - Inclusion Financière et Finance Durable

Please note: This track will be conducted entirely in French. 

The French Track offers a comprehensive overview of the key trends and challenges shaping the financial sector, with a particular focus on financial inclusion globally and in Francophone Africa. It is designed for practitioners, young leaders, financial service providers, regulators, policymakers, and development organizations seeking to better understand and address these issues in their work. 

Participants will explore ecosystems of digital finance, gender finance, agricultural finance, and green finance, gaining insights into their business impact, regulatory implications, and opportunities for innovation. This track provides practical knowledge to integrate these themes into business models, policy frameworks, and development initiatives. 

Summer Academy en français

Ce programme propose un aperçu complet des principales tendances et défis qui façonnent le secteur financier, avec un accent particulier sur l’inclusion financière à l’échelle mondiale et en Afrique francophone. Il s’adresse aux praticiens, jeunes leaders, fournisseurs de services financiers, régulateurs, décideurs politiques et organisations de développement souhaitant mieux comprendre et aborder ces enjeux dans leur travail. 

Les participants exploreront les écosystèmes liés à la finance digitale, à la finance du genre, à la finance agricole et à la finance verte, tout en approfondissant leur compréhension de l’impact commercial, des implications réglementaires et des opportunités d’innovation. Ce programme fournit des connaissances pratiques pour intégrer ces thématiques dans les modèles économiques, les cadres politiques et les initiatives de développement. 

Credit Risk

Risk Management

The risk landscape for consumer credit and small business finance in emerging markets is increasingly complex, shaped by rising debt levels, geopolitical tensions, climate risks, digital competition, and volatile economic conditions. The Risk Management Track equips participants with the tools and frameworks to address these challenges within a comprehensive enterprise risk framework. 

Key topics include credit risk, asset-liability management, arrears management, and statistical credit scoring, with a focus on emerging market dynamics and practical solutions to mitigate risks. 

This track provides participants with the skills to navigate a complex risk environment, enhance decision-making processes, and build resilience in financial institutions.

Sustainable Finance

The Sustainable Finance Track explores how financial institutions are navigating the sustainability transformation and contributing to a resilient, eco-conscious economy. Participants will examine key topics such as climate risk management, carbon accounting, climate stress testing, and biodiversity conservation while gaining insights into innovative green finance products.  

The track also includes sessions on Sustainability Disclosure & Reporting, providing an overview of ESG reporting standards, and Greenwashing & ESG Litigation, highlighting the challenges of deceptive practices and the role of accountability measures. 

Through hands-on exercises and group work, this track provides practical knowledge and strategies for integrating sustainability into financial operations, aligning with global efforts to address climate change and promote biodiversity. 

Registrations

Register for the 2025 Summer Academy before 31 March 2025 and benefit from an Early Bird discount. 

Administrative Details

The tuition fee for the training is EUR 5,700*, and it covers all training materials, catering as well as transportation for any site visits**.

The Summer Academies are fully tuition-based and not sponsored. Accordingly, participants are required to cover the full costs of the training or find a sponsor.

Special Packages for Groups: Special packages, for example, including accommodation, airport transfers, other logistical support, etc., can be provided upon request for group registrations.

Discounts

There are several combinable discounts (max. Two discounts per participant) for the Summer Academy:

  • 15% Early Bird Discount for all registrations made before 31 March 2025.

  • 10% Alumni Discount for participants who have previously studied with Frankfurt School.

  • 10% Group Discount* for each institution sending more than one participant to the programme.

  • 15% Non-OECD Discount* for all participants with nationality and residency in non-OECD countries.  

*Non-OECD discounts can be combined with a maximum of two other discounts per participant; the total discount cannot exceed 40%. To qualify for the Non-OECD discount, a copy of an ID or other relevant documents must be submitted proactively to verify nationality and residency.

The Summer Academy will be held at the Frankfurt School campus. Being one of the leading business schools in Germany and Europe, Frankfurt School offers modern facilities for an interactive senior training program. Our training rooms are equipped with the newest technology and the newest media to provide flexibility and quality in our training courses.

We have a strong focus on the wellbeing of our guests and course participants, a good training environment, air quality and modern equipment.

Language

  • The language of instruction will be English and no translation will be provided.
  • The "French track" will be conducted in French.
