Frankfurt am Main, 15.05.2018 12:00:00

From May 7 to 9, 2018, the EFMD doctoral conference took place at Frankfurt School of Finance & Management for the first time. Around 50 Heads of Doctoral Programmes and Research from all over the world met to discuss how to get their graduates “Fit for Purpose and the Future”. The aim was to find and discuss ways and means to enhance and improve doctoral education. The conference offered a platform to share best practice examples from different institutions and to work on solutions to problematic issues that are shared by doctoral education practioners.

“We all aim for our graduates to be become responsible researchers and teachers or - depending on the focus of the programme – professionals who contribute to management practice in the industry,” Claudia Bieber, Programme Director at Frankfurt School’s Doctoral Programme, explained. “This conference is an excellent opportunity to collect new ideas and meet colleagues faced with similar challenges. In the end our programmes and students will benefit from this exchange.”

The plenaries and workshops covered diverse topics such as creating a collaborative research culture, supporting the mental health and well-being of doctoral students and young researchers, responsible research in business and management, as well as the employers’ perspective on doctoral programmes of business schools.

At a gala dinner at Villa Rothschild, with a beautiful view of Frankfurt, participants continued to network and discuss conference topics.
