From July 2 to 13, 2018, Frankfurt School of Finance & Management opened its campus for the participants of its fifths summer school. The 18 students, aged 19 to 40, made up a diverse group with home countries such as Brazil, China, Germany, Namibia, the Netherlands, Nigeria, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, USA and Zimbabwe.

The idea of the summer school is to offer a crash course in finance and banking for students with no background in this area in the course of two weeks. During their time in Frankfurt, the students visited important financial institutions like the European Central Bank, the German Bundesbank or Commerzbank. They took part in a competitive, web-based simulator game, in order to gain insights into how to manage a financial institution, and they attended lectures as well as tutorials led by industry experts.

In addition to the academic programme, the students participated in various sports activities, including yoga, soccer, swimming, basketball and running. They experienced traditional food from the Frankfurt region and went on excursions to Berlin and Heidelberg.
