On Wednesday, February 21, 2018, five students of Frankfurt School of Finance & Management won the German final of the CFA Institute Research Challenge. With their financial analysis and business valuation of the biotech company BRAIN AG, the students convinced the four-member expert jury at the Germany headquarters of Bloomberg L.P. in Frankfurt am Main. In the finals Frankfurt School beat RWTH Aachen and Technische Hochschule Nürnberg. For the third time in a row, the business school participated in the regional finals. In the first round seven universities competed.

The winners: Ryan Westley, Luccas Nepomuceno, Joming Chiang, Johannes Kirchmayr and Rok Cerin

European final will take place in Dublin on April 4

“The competition was very demanding and the evaluation of BRAIN AG a special challenge. We can be very proud as a team. We already prepare for the European final in Dublin – because of having a goal” says Johannes Kirchmayr, Master of Finance student at Frankfurt School.

“The CFA Research Challenge is a great opportunity for our students to apply their theoretical knowledge on a real-life case. They had to research, analyse and interprete the financial data of the target company and write a professional Analyst Report. This perfectly complements the theoretical skills which they learn in the Master of Finance here at FS”, emphasises Dr. Julia Knobbe, Programme Director of the Master of Finance at Frankfurt School.

Frankfurt School: A member of the “CFA University Affiliation Program” since July 2017

The close connection between Frankfurt school and the CFA Institute is also evident from the business school being member of the “CFA University Affiliation Program” since July 2017. The business school’s Master of Finance programme has been acknowledged as incorporating at least 70 percent of the CFA Program Candidate Body of Knowledge and placing emphasis on the CFA Institute Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice within the programme.

From May 14 to May 18, 2018, Frankfurt School of Finance & Management offers its students and alumni to participate in Chartered Financial Analayst (CFA) preparation courses.
